What is Filament Yarn
A continuous and endless fiber is called a filament. Filament yarn consists of long and endless fibers, which are grouped or twisted to create yarn. Example: silk. Filament yarns are grouped into two types – multi-filament yarn or mono-filament yarn.
As the name suggests, mono-filament yarn consists of a single strand, while multi-filament yarns comprise two or more strands twisted to form a single thread of yarn.
Filament yarns can be made from natural, synthetic, and artificial fibers. They neither lint nor pill, are more pliable than spun yarn, have excellent durability and strength, and are lustrous. They are smoother than spun yarn.
